Creole Music of the French West Indies

Our good friend and colleague, the Caribbeanist and blues scholar John Cowley, announces publication of his long-awaited book, Creole Music of the French West Indies. The book is a comprehensive discography of commercial and field recordings from the Francophone Caribbean during its most creative and vibrant period. Alan Lomax Awarded Michigan Heritage Award

The Michigan Heritage Award is the state’s highest distinction to honor individuals who continue their family community and cultural traditions with excellence and devotion.

Alan Lomax was posthumously given this honor by the Michigan State University Museum for his “dedication to the preservation of musical traditions and cultural heritage in Michigan and beyond.”

Kickstarter campagin fully funded

Thanks to the support of over 400 backers, we were able to reach and surpass the $15,000 goal set out in its Kickstarter campaign. ACE looks forward to completing the work on the Global Jukebox Song Tree for a tentative beta launch in the fall of 2015.
